Frequently Asked Questions!

Updated: 23 October 2019

We love responding to all the questions we get through our social media, emails and phones personally. However, the most common queries and responses are…

1. SUPPLYING YOUR SNACKS

We support women empowerment/entrepreneurship, so we buy most of our snacks from female home chefs. When we are looking for a new supplier, we ask on our page and food groups; and that’s the time to apply through our Facebook page. Please do not send samples unless requested. We also do a brunch event to support female home chefs; please check #2.

2. BRUNCH WAGERA

This is a monthly community event to support female home chefs. We provide you free space to bring/sell your homemade snacks during this 4-hour event. 5-8 chefs are selected, depending on the location. Dates are announced on our FB pages at the beginning of each month, with all the details and deadline to apply. You apply through one of the FB pages with your full (real) name, brand name, link to your FB page, link to your Insta page, mobile number, Whatsapp number, name and description of the item(s) you want to bring, photos of the items (original, square, high-res, without any logo/text on them). You must read the details and visit CW to see the space before you apply. You may want to check out photos/videos of previous events here.

3. REGISTRATION FOR OTHER EVENTS

Most events are promoted through an event page, shared on our FB pages, with full information on how to register. Some events like Open Mic do not require prior registration. You may watch photos/videos of most previous events on our YouTube channel.

4. JOB APPLICATIONS

When we are hiring, we post a job on our page with all the requirements. Applications are only accepted through our FB page. For our free training programs and internships, check #5.

5. TRAINING/INTERNSHIP

We often run a 2-week Barista Training as a community support program, to give you some skills and experience. We also take interns for marketing or admin work for short-term or long-term projects. You can apply for either one through our FB page, whenever we open these. For paid job, check #4.

6. HOSTING AN EVENT

You can book a space for meetups, training, workshop or any other events. Such bookings are for a minimum number of ten people, with a minimum spending of Rs.600 per person, for up to 3 hours. You get access to seating, computer, projector, screen, wifi, and free drinking water at no additional charge.

All events are semi-private, which means there will be other customers. Maximum capacity for such events is 16 for Badar and 20 for Maskan outlet. We request a non-refundable advance payment of 50% to book a space, at least a week in advance.

Please message through our FB page with your event details, date, time and estimated number of people as a starting point. For less than ten people or 3 hours, check #7.

7. MAKING RESERVATIONS / B’DAY PARTIES

We don’t make reservations; you may call to check availability, or just walk in. If you are a party of ten with a minimum spending of Rs.600 then check #6.

For Birthday Parties, we don’t provide decorations or cakes – but we do provide party hats, play b’day song, and the b’day boy/girl gets a free coffee of choice when buying any savory. The minimum spending is Rs.248 (price of a latte/cappuccino) per person, as explained in #8.

8. MINIMUM SPENDING

We provide free drinking water, high-speed wifi connections, workstation with power/USB sockets, board games, clean toilet… to all our customers. And we expect a minimum spending of Rs.248 per person (price of a latte/cappuccino). Once you fulfil the minimum spending, there’s no time limit to sit and enjoy the facilities – nobody will ask you to order more. The only exception is when a customer wants to have a quick snack/beverage for less than Rs.248 and leave within 20 minutes of being served – without accessing the workstation, wifi or board games.

9. PROVIDING SERVICES – social media, PR, bloggers etc.

It’s best to ask if we are looking for any services before sending any proposals or requesting for a meeting. We do not sponsor events or provide free snacks or beverages. We do not offer complimentary food to bloggers, influencers or celebrities – they are most welcome to try us and talk about us if they have a great experience!

10. FRANCHISING OPPORTUNITIES

We have already signed up four franchises: Gulshan (CW-Maskan, launched on 15th Sep), North (CW-5star, opening in Dec), PECHS (CW-PECHS, scheduled for Jan) and Gulistan-e-Jauhar (CW-Jauhar, planned for Mar). Clifton, Malir and II Chundrigar Road are in progress. Any further franchising discussions are on hold till end of Dec.

We plan to open franchising opportunities outside Karachi in Jun-Jul 2020.

We also sell beans, which you can pick up if available or order for pickup within 2-3 days.

14. OUTSIDE FOOD

The idea was to have your favorite donuts from somewhere your, with your favorite coffee, which was then extended to other snacks like patties, biscuits, samosas and similar stuff that goes well with coffee/tea.

What’s not allowed from outside are any beverages or stuff that we sell (sandwiches, brownies, cakes, cookies) or full meals/food like pizza, pasta, kababs, biryani etc. or lunch boxes from home.

15. NAMAZ

We can provide a prayer mat, show you the direction of Qibla and turn off the music, if you are comfortable saying your prayers in the cafe, any time.

16. NO SMOKING

All CW outlets are non-smoking. Vaping is not allowed either. Please ask for an ashtray when stepping outside to smoke; and kindly empty it in our bin before returning.
